Our History

Founded by Victor Spane in 1945, Spane Buildings has a deeply rooted history as Washington’s most trusted builder of post frame buildings. The company’s portfolio of expertly-crafted structures can be seen in communities all across the state as beautiful homes, state-of-the-art equestrian arenas, commercial structures, as well as barns and garages of all sizes.

Over the years Spane has built a legacy of trust and honor through meticulous construction of thousands of buildings. Mr. Spane set the standard as an exceptional craftsman, turning post frame construction into an art form. His innovative designs and streamlined construction processes were so innovative, he was awarded several patents. This standard continues to serve as the foundation for how the company builds today.

Family runs deep at Spane. The company’s President, Jim Spane, began working alongside his father, Victor in 1989, later becoming President in 1995. Most of the staff have been with Spane for decades as well. Customers are like family too, many of whom have developed life-long relationships over mutliple projects – and generations.

At Spane, the company views the communities in which they live and work as an extension of their family. Victor Spane set the tone for giving back to the community and over 70 years later, the company continues to support the efforts of local businesses and non-profit organizations. Most recently, the team at Spane had the honor of renovating a building initially built by Mr. Spane on the Stanwood-Camano Community Fairgrounds, marked by a rededication ceremony which renamed the facility the “Victor Louis Spane Exhibit Hall.”

The company has been recognized on numerous occasions by both customers and the building industry for their unwavering commitment to building the most exceptional structures possible. In September 2011 Spane Buildings was recognized as “Builder of the Year” by the local builder’s association, commonly known as SICBA. What distinguishes Spane is their unwavering commitment to standing by projects that are completed on time, on budget, and are known for their beauty, functionality and long lasting value.
